Karonde mirch ka achaar – how to make karonde mirch ka achaar

Karonde is often called as carissa carandus or natal plum or karvand. Karonde Hari mirch ki sabzi is a favorite seasonal side dish recipe. Serve karonde Mirch ki sabzi with chapati and raita for a complete meal. Karonda Mirch ki sabzi is a tangy vegetable which is usually used in pickles.


Preparation time – 20 minutes
Cooking time – 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • karonde – 250 gram
  • Green chili- 250 gram
  • Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Fennel seed’s powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Oil – 2 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste

Method

  • Rinse Karonde 2-3 times with water to remove all the dirt and mud particles.
  • Wash the green chilies as well.
  • Cut each piece of karonda into two equal halves and remove seeds.
  • Cut each green chili into half-inch pieces.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and asafoetida and turmeric powder and fennel powder and mix well.
  • Now add green chilies and saute for one minute and add karonde and mix well.
  • Add coriander powder and salt and mix well.
  • Now cover the lid and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Check for doneness. Cook uncovered for one minute. Turn off the heat.
  • Serve karonde Mirch ki sabzi with paratha/roti.
  • You can store it in the fridge for a week or so.
