Amla Chutney has an equal balance of sweet and spicy that can go well as a side dish for Rotis or parathas. Vitamin C rich amla is commonly available in the winters. We all should include gooseberry(amla) in our daily diets because of its strong immunity and nutritious value. You can store it in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 weeks. Today we are presenting a quick recipe for sweet amla chutney.

how to make amla chutney

Ingredients:

  • Gooseberry(amla)- 150 grams
  • Jaggery sugar- 150 grams
  • Oil – 1 teaspoon
  • Raisins – 1 tablespoon
  • Dry red chilly – 2
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Salt – 1/4 teaspoon 
  • Black salt – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Carom seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red chilly powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Garam masala – 1 teaspoon

Method:

  • Take Amlas and 1/2 cup water in any vessel and put it on the flame.
  • Let it simmer till they get soft and tender.
  • Within 10 minutes amlas will get tender.
  • Then turn off the flame and strain the amlas in a bowl.
  • Remove the seeds from amla and ground them in a mixture jar to make a fine paste.
  • Now add oil in a pan and heat then add bay leaf, dry red chilly and carom seeds.
  • Now add amla paste and roast it for 2 minutes.
  • Add salt, black salt red chilly powder and garam masala and mix it well.
  • Now add jaggery sugar.
  • Stir and mix well.
  • Let the mixture cook on low flame.
  • Keep stirring at regular intervals.
  • Add raisins and cook until it gets thick inconsistency.
  • Cool and store it in the refrigerator for 2 weeks.
  • Our tasty Amla chutney is ready to serve.
