, &quot;helvetica&quot; , sans-serif;\"><b>Method:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Clean whole masoor dal,wash and then soak for 2 hours.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Remove water from dal and wash again.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Put the masoor dal in a cooker, add 2 cups water,1 teaspoon salt and 1\/2 teaspoon turmeric powder.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Close the lid and place the dal on the gas to cook.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">After 1 whistle goes off lower the flame and cook dal for another 3 to 4 minutes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Turn off the gas until all of the pressure escapes from the cooker let us prepare the spices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Wash then cut tomatoes in 4 to 5 pieces, break the stems off the green chillies and wash them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Peel and wash ginger.Put the tomatoes, green chillies and ginger in a mixer to make a fine paste.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Heat ghee in a frying pan, put asafoetida and cumin seeds.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">When cumin seeds crackle add chopped onion and fry until light brown in colour.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Add turmeric powder, coriander powder and red chilli powder and little salt.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Now put the tomato paste and fry the spices till ghee starts to float over them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Open the cooker and put the spices in the dal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Mix well, add water according to how thick or thin you want the texture of the dal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Add garam masala in dal.
